Equality Act 2021 Gender Identity, Tax Paid Abortion, and No Religious Freedom Protection

Findings and Purpose

On Thursday, February 25th 2021, the Equality Act passed the house with votes 224/206.
Now the revamped Equality Act will be presented before the senate to vote on.
On the surface revamping this act sounds reasonable. But as we read on there are many changes.

Reasonable under Sec. 2 Findings and Purpose
The Equality Act is claiming to prohibit discrimination on basis of sex, gender identity and sexual orientation, amending the 1964 civil rights act of employment and housing , federal funding and public accommodations, retail stores, online stores, etc.

Major Changes

The act basically changes the definition of sex and include pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions(in which courts recognize abortions as a related medical condition). This Act forces employers to pay for abortions and tax payers to fund abortions through medicare tax programs. As well as, any doctor’s refusal to not taking part in the abortion will be called acting out as pregnancy discrimination.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION RULES:                                                                                                                                                                       With respect to gender identity an individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and dressing rooms. This is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity. If passed, this would put women at risk by granting biological men who identify as women access to female-only spaces. This bill also lets biological men participate in women’s-only sports.

SEC. 1107. No Religious Freedom CLAIMS                                                                                                                                                  “The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (42 U.S.C. 2000bb et seq.) shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title”.

The purpose of writing this article is to bring awareness to others. Even though it feels like Freedom is dying, remember these are cycles, and realistically Freedom Never Dies. There is always hope through our current times.
